Microbreaks

Life is crazy, and when you are juggling everyday life tasks and work, it’s really tricky to find a chunk of time during the day to take time out to simply just rest and recharge. This is where microbreaks are perfect! Microbreaks are simply quick, short breaks from work during the day.

If you are short on time, incorporating microbreaks into your day will ensure you get some down time, even if just for 5-10 minutes. Simply stretch, close your eyes or practice some deep breathing. Any or all of these simple techniques will give you enough of a break to pick up and carry on where you left off!

Did you know that research shows that by taking regular microbreaks and detaching yourself away from work tasks can help restore energy in the short term and help prevent burnout!

Don’t believe me… Give it a go yourself. Here are my favourite breathing techniques that help me to reduce stress.

Deep Breathing

Get comfortable. You can lie on your back in bed or on the floor with a pillow under your head and knees. …

Breathe in through your nose. Let your belly fill with air.

Breathe out through your nose.

Place one hand on your belly. …

As you breathe in, feel your belly rise. …

Take three more full, deep breaths.

Let me know how you get on…
